SUPERSTARS MONOPOLISE GREEN SOX. |

Superstars played their first ever game at Burgess Park, and possibly
their first ever in a cage. The ground itself is near the Old Kent Road, which was a stroke of luck when the Greens
realised there were no stumps so someone ran off to Argos and bought a pair of spring loaded ones. So we started
a little late. We bowled first with Roy, returning from an early season layoff, and Ian Moxon opening up. It was
like Roy had never been away he he bowled beautifully with as much luck as me at Monopoly - there were dropped
catches, near misses and good batsmen. His sole wicket was caught by "safe as HOUSES" Gaught. Debutant Dan Durham
followed up with some FLEET STREETing pace but Gary Plahe took a BOW (STREET) for his bowling with 2 wickets
(one a caught and bowled, one a cracking catch by Roy at square leg). With Mike Duggan and Matt C entrusted
to the death overs there were no WATER WORKS for Superstars but 128-3 on a slow pitch looked to have a good CHANCE
of victory. |

Gaught and Conway were first to GO for Superstars in reply. With
Conway in great form and Gaught giving him the strike it was going well until Gaught was dismissed. Adam joined
Matt who soon retired and Mark joined Adam in an ELECTRIC COMPANY partnership. Adam reached 24 and Mark the
perfect 30 retired. However just as we thought Superstars MAYFAIR well there was a huge collapse with
Mark W-J, debutant Ben, Gary, Ian M and Mike D losing their wickets quickly including 3 run outs where
people were left STRANDed. It was left to Barry, who had got out of his sick bed to play and was rather
KINGS CROSS, alongside Man of the Match Varghese to get the necessary 3 runs for the final 5 balls, which they did
with a ball to spare. |

An excellent game, played in a lively but very good spirit.
Post match drinks were at the TRAFALGAR themed pub after. |
