SUPERSTARS COBBLE TOGETHER WIN. |

Superstars, in the absence of their great leader (Mr B.Gigg) paid homage
by losing the toss and being put out to pasture for the first innings. Sups, with 10/11 players very capable of bowling mixed
the attack up and produced an oddly competent fielding display for the 2nd game of the post tour season. Particular credits
to Harish for an excellent opening spell, Will Spry and Mike D for putting the brakes on in the middle and Dan F for his 3
(could have been 5) - 18, AND a spectacular debut in the field for James Hewlett (2 catches and a run out!). Overall a
decent performance restricting the Chelsea Cobblers to 118 from their 20. (Vijay learnt how it felt to be planted for 6
into the houses at the changing room end - Karma?). |

Sups made a strong start to our chase as the light dimmed from ball 1 reaching
28-1 inside the first 3 overs. Whilst the run rate slowed from there on, John Bishop's running between the wickets caused
speculation as to how brilliantly a pair of Gigg/Bishop would accumulate runs at the top of the order - or result in a comedy
run out on ball 1. Conway, batting at 3 due to his exertions in the field was well caught by the treacherous Spry (helping
the oppo) before Diwakar and John Bishop laid a platform leaving sups 70-3 from 12. Clearly tottering along serenely towards
the target does not make for an entertaining spectacle - Sups therefore conspired to make a game of it and reduced themselves
to 70-5 the next over and 81-6 shortly afterwards (largely thanks to extras). Moxon on the superstars live text pronounced
he'd seen stronger tails at this point and expressed his reservations as to a successful outcome. This only inspired Harish,
Will S and Mike D to make easy work of the target Mike slapping one to square leg to reach our total with 5 balls remaining.
Crucial boundaries from Will redeemed his earlier treachery! |

All credit to the oppo who came in at shoprt notice after RSSB let us down,
were a top bunch and made it a very enjoyable game of cricket - the 2 spectators must have wondered why anyone wastes
their money going to Lords! And then we went to the pub....
