Paul "Lightning Bolt" Gaught joined Superstars in 2004. He was bought in specifically at
the top of the order to keep pace with the master of the all run six, Barry "the whizz" Gigg. This worked wonders as Barry has
never run an all run six since and has instead relegated himself down the batting order leaving Paul to stand as the rock at number one. |

Paul's batting style can only be described as allowing the ball to get cold/old before
trying to hit it hard, which is in stark contrast to his cake eating style, which is eat it hot before it leaves the baking tray.
Both cake eating and batting styles have bought him some success, scoring a 100 in each (100 cakes eaten during a match and 100
runs scored during a match). |

Paul has even managed to bring his cake skills onto the field, with a bowling style
which is obviously derived from some form of pie slinging although, as someone pointed out, this could not be the case as Paul has
never slung an uneaten pie in his life. |

Paul's fielding to begin with was truly awful, but improved immensely after ex perm sec
Lin Homer started throwing muffins out to staff during her walk rounds. Since the DfT Stats branch gave Paul the nickname "the GMH Muffin
Grabber" he has barely let a muffin or ball slip from his grasp but he was asked to leave GMH. |

Paul's off the pitch antics have been as interesting as his on the pitch antics.
Who can forget the all night drinking binges with George Best, the epic gambling sprees with Kenny Samson, the coke riddled nights
with Ozzy Osbourne, and the torrid affairs with Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue? All that came to an end recently when Penny slapped
him round the face and told him to stop day dreaming. |

The most unbelievable off the pitch story is that Paul did actually run a marathon.
Well if that is true then I shall definitely be checking up on those rumours that Paul has still got a few pictures from his
time with Kate and Kylie. |

As one would expect with a player about to celebrate a decade with the club Paul features
in some of the club's statistical highpoints. He has reached the 100 cap club
and is the 8th most capped Superstar as I write but should climb over Steve Carter in 2014. Paul has also made it to the
1000 runs club and is now the 4th greatest run getter in the club's
history. Let's just overlook bowling and fielding.... |

An active committee member Paul organises fixtures and is involved in the content of this website. On the field he is the captain of Vice. |
