Barry won the toss (this is getting silly) and batted. Paul Gaught and Will
Walker opened up, and after a scratchy first two or three overs Will began to play with his customary elegance and Paul
with his customary, err, determination. There was a little bit of help with dropped catches but Paul first and then Will
reached 50s. Paul was out, caught by Rob Fox, for 59 after a stand of 120 in the 15th over. Will continued on until he
was caught behind for 63. Jaime Ratcliff (29 not out) and Scott Thornton (7 not out) then took up the mantle with some
lusty blows. Despite some excellent shots in our 169 for 2 for many people the highlight of the innings was Mike Taylor
sitting on, and breaking, a plastic box. |

There was a strange opening to the Dodgers innings. Our opening bowler looked
like Sandeep, but this bowler was accurate as well as fast. A well deserved 4-2-10-1 followed, the other opening bowler,
Ben Coleman (4-0-19-0) and fellow paceman Simon Gundry (4-1-15-1) ensured that Dodgers were not even chasing the total.
Mike Taylor took a wicket in a "liquorice allsorts" display. Scott and Jason bowled well at the end, with Neil Priest
surviving Jason's bowling for a change, even his new "Zumba" delivery. Dodgers made 96 for 3. |

An excellent performance, followed by a good turn out at the pub for
celebration drinks. And we avoided having to pay for a replacement plastic box. |
