For once the skip won the toss and put the oppo in. For the whole of the innings
our fielding was top notch with some decent catches particularly Adam's running catch on the boundary and some sharp run outs
- Jim's direct hit being the best. The best bowling figures went to Guy whose tantalising mixture of wide ball, straight ball
led to four catches off his bowling including one from our overseas player - well Mike T from Chippenham - and figures of 4-24.
A late flurry of four 4s in the last over from the man with the number 24 on his back pushed the Commons OB's total up to 111-8. |

In reply Will and Adam struggled against some accurate bowling and both went caught
behind without scoring, Jim then nudged to 18 but after 8 overs we had still only scored 23. James and the skip had a go at running
some singles but it was left to our bigger hitters Jez 22 and Vijay 25 to get us back in the game. With two overs to go we needed
12 to win but the two opening bowlers came back on, only 3 were made in the penultimate over with Vijay retiring, so 9 off the
last over to be faced by Mike T and Alok. However with the field set deep we still needed 4 off the last ball to win, Alok
smeared it to deep point but they could only run 2 so just one short at 110-7. |

Hopefully our ability to get over the line will return soon. [Or get a contract with Sky Sports
with all these exciting finishes - Ed] |
