Paul G, standing in for Barry, came second in the toss and was asked to bat. Initially
it was toughish going on a slow wicket and damp outfield after the recent rain. Mark A and Paul G were dismissed early while Will W
and Adam weren't quite their fluent best but gradually went through their gears to both retire at 32 (it was a retire at 30 game at
the request of the opposition). Rick S and Vijay entered the fray and were more fluent from the start and took us from around
5-an-over to a final score 128-2 in 20 overs, with scores of 25no and 30no respectively. 128 looked decent, but
certainly not an outstanding score. |

Harish and Will S opened the bowling and kept things nicely tight. Merv, who was
late for the match as he was busy laying grass (not a euphamism), turfed out one batsman and sowed seeds of doubt in the others
in a stunning spell of 4-0-9-1. He was accompanied by legendary spinner Mike D who not only bowled beautifully for 4-0-13-1
(including a catch from Rick) but ran out the number 3. The required rate was rising but Albamorphics seemed unable to break
the tight hold of Superstars' suffocating tight fielding - indicative of the run outs (there were 3, two from Gary and
the one from Mike D mentioned above). Gary's bowling was excellent, and aided by this uncharacteristic fielding returned
lovely figures of 3-0-4-1 with Vijay completing the 20 overs with a single over for Vijay (1 wicket, 3 runs). Albamophics ended
on 76-7 for a pleasing victory for the wonderfully marshalled Superstars. |
